In the most basic terms, the barefoot rebellion is a practical approach in transforming our modern lifestyle from a vulnerable highly dependent typical existence, to a less dependent, more balanced lifestyle.
The foundation of our process is simple; we are leveraging existing real estate, lowering our household costs, making handcrafted goods, developing small scale agricultural operations, direct sales and marketing of goods, enviro-cation and homeschooling, other micro-enterprises, all while maintaining our professional work!
Our barefoot rebellion is really a workshop, where we study the best practices for homesteading and implement these techniques on an urban homestead in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Since the early days in 2008 the activity has been primarily focused on learning new skills, acquiring knowledge, and gaining operational capabilities.
The barefoot rebellion is energized by the early results; gaining valuable experience in all sizes and scales of renewable energy projects and developing an established garden as the backbone of the workshop. As we learned valuable new skills and increased our knowledge regarding the complexities of the transformation we are also increasingly aware that many, many people are facing the same challenges.
